Driving along the Meuse last year, we conceived a desire to follow the river along its full length, from its source in eastern France, through Belgium and out past Maastricht to the sea. Now I discover another reason to visit Maastricht: it has a rather splendid bookshop (another picture here).

Were, or are you perhaps interested in that fantastic antiquities fair there, as well, or just plain passing through the city on your way to and from France, by pure chance on a whim, which sounds absolutely lovely enough?

We haven't been to Maastricht (yet); this is just something I saw in the newspaper. But last summer's trip to France (http://shewhomust.livejournal.com/tag/france_07) started with the ferry to Holland (http://shewhomust.livejournal.com/144073.html), a drive along the Meuse (http://shewhomust.livejournal.com/144240.html) and thoughts of how we would like to see more of this river...
