New species

Yesterday's Guardian has a fun little article by Phil Gates, who is a friend of a friend (and also my twin, in that we were born on the same day) about the discovery of a new species of mouse in Cyprus. I suspect that, like so many discoveries, everyone knew it was there all along, they just hadn't noticed that it was different from the other mice.

But I digress. The piece also introduced me to the disturbing idea of carnivorous sponges. Plus, where would you look if you wanted to discover a new species of sea urchin? (No, I'm not going to spoil the punch-line: go read the article).
