Secret Santa

Amazon called yesterday, and delivered a package addressed to durham_rambler containing a large box of shortbread biscuits. Neither of us has any idea who sent it, and there is no clue on the packaging. We are mystified, but not displeased.

We had one like this this morning but upon opening it turned out to be from my nephew Lloyd and his wife and our niece by marriage, Zarina.

Mystery shortbread is the best shortbread! At least during the holidays because you didn't have to bake it yourself.

I have never baked shortbread! Though home made shortbread might be very nice... (I don't do a lot of baking, TBH, though I remember both my grandmothers in flour-covered aprons.)

It's one of the few things I remember fron school cookery lessons. Ingrefients were butter, flour and sugar (with the option, I think, of a small amount of ground rice), in that order: how could it not be nice?
