The highlight of my weekend came early: on Friday we carried out our plan to visit the cheesemakers from Teesdale whom we had met at the food festival in Bishop Auckland. We collected J., who lives not far from their farm, and took her to lunch there. We all shared a cheese platter, and experimented with the different accompaniments: personally I do not think the Teesdale blue benefits from being served with honey). Anyway, I preferred the Durham blue (but I was in a minority there). My photo disn't come out well, so have a picture of a goat (no goats were milked in the making of this cheeseboard:

Then back to J.'s for coffee, and a view of the thunderstorm that was rolling around the fields.

There should have been a street party this afternoon ("to coincide with" rather than to celebrate, the coronation) but it has been raining most of the day, and the organisers decided it was wiser to cancel. I ought to be disappointed, I suppose, but I'm not, really...

We have both Wrekin blue and Shropshire blue locally- both good.

Borders folk seem to be huge blue cheese freaks which suits me down to the ground.
