A semi-satisfactory morning
Aug. 17th, 2022 05:19 pmThis morning I completed a monthly chore - typing up a draft of the minutes of the local residents' association meeting - which always tends to drag on. I made a real effort to focus, and I was feeling rather smug as I reached the end of the job.
durham_rambler called upstairs that he now had a time for tomorrow's Wine Society delivery, and that it would come in the early afternoon: good, if we don't have to wait in for that in the morning we can go to the Farmers' Market, and be back in time for deliveries from the Wine Society and the greengrocer -
Oh. I had been so focused on the minutes that I had forgotten to order the vegetables. Damn. Well, do that now ...
Vegetables ordered, I headed downstairs to make lunch, my mind already running through the steps of making the hummus: chickpeas already soaked and cooked, so first I peel some garlic -
Oops. I'd meant to order some garlic. Not a catastrophe, there's still a little left, but I had meant to order some more, and not remembered.
If it is true that men succeed in the world because they are able to focus and make progress with one thing at a time, while women are trained from an early age to keep an eye on several different tasks at once, then I have had a very male morning.
