shewhomustIt was weegoddess and J who, on a long-ago Christmas visit introduced us to the pantomime - no, of course we already knew about pantomine, but we wouldn't have dreamed of actually going to the theatre to see one, if they hadn't insisted we do so.
So when this year's cancelled panto was replaced by an online mini-pantomine, starring the Evil Villain and the Idiot Boy who are the leading lights of Durham's traditional show, it was an opportunity to share a seasonal treat with our absent friends - and yesterday evening (in Durham - yesterday afternoon in greater Boston) we settled down wih appropriate refreshments to share a Zoomed video and conversation, and get to seeweegoddess and J's (no longer very new) new home, not to mention Arya the cat.
So many people have lost so much from the closure of the theatres that it seems rather improper to say how much more I enjoyed this than the "real thing". Also, thirty five minutes seems about as much pantomime as I need. If you want to judge for yourself, you have until midday (GMT) on Christmas Eve to watch Rottenchops' Revenge.
