Sea holly is one of the plants I pause to admire, when I come across it in other people's gardens. But I had not met this excellent variety name, until the Guardian's Allendale correspondent wrote about it yesterday. She explains that it "is named after Ellen Willmott, an early guerrilla gardener who left a trail of seeds in the gardens she visited." What a splendid memorial!
