Belleville rendezvous

The vestigial Travel section in Saturday's Guardian carries a descriotion of permitted daily exercise in Paris: no more than an hour, and never further than a kilometre from home, and yet there's plenty to see in this walk around Belleville.

Belleville's a favourite part of Paris for us!

I know the Buttes Chaumont, where the ealk starts, but not really beyond that - which is one reason I wanted to note this article, in hope of explorations to come!

Buttes Chaumont is a very short walk from Stalingrad/Canal du Midi which is where our regular hotel is.

That's so very cosmopolitan, so very cool, to have a regular hotel in Paris ...

He'd been using it for years when we first met from his days doing his doctoral study in Paris and then his early days European civil servanting and it's still with the same family.

It's cheap, cheerful and friendly.
