Getting out
Mar. 21st, 2020 05:54 pmYesterday I took my own advice, and left the house for the shortest of short walks: down to the bottom of the road, under the viaduct, up past Redhills and under the railway line to come home the back way.
This is one of a pair of 'Durham Miners' who top the gateposts at Redhills, the old Miners' Hall. Last week we celebrated the success of their bid for lottery funding: this week we learned that the annual Gala has been cancelled. So it goes.
Today we discovered that the reason my repeat prescription had still not arrived in the post was that the practice had ignored my SAE and sent it direct to the out-of-town Boots. So at the end of the afternoon,
durham_rambler drove me up there, and sat in the car while I collected it. and then drove me to Broom House Farm, where he sat in the car while I bought vegetables. The lass on the till at Boots was very chirpy, and asked if I'd had a busy day? No? Just out shopping, then? The proprietor of the farm shop looked exhausted.
