Isolation

This morning I tried to phone the Bears - just for a chat - and discovered that the phone was dead. Investigation establishes that there is a fault, it is not within the house, and that it will take several days to fix. durham_rambler remonstrates with our supplier that our (business) contract promises same-day action, but the best they are able to do is reroute calls to his mobile. So he'll be dealing with all the spam calls for the next few days.

Mysteriously - and fortunately - the internet is not affected.

I'm alatmed by the latest report that over-70s will be instructed to self-isolate for up to four months. durham_rambler - who is over 70 - is taking it more combatively: "What about D.'s birthday?" he asks. The plan is for a number of people to join D. at a Landmark Trust property in Scotland to celebrate his 70th birthay in August. "Will he be allowed to travel there as an under-70, but not return?" Well, August is a long way off.

Meanwhile D. is here for the weekend, and has taken himself off to Birdoswald Roman fort. And I'd better charge my mobile phone...
