We spent the second week of our holiday in Shetland this summer on the edge of the villages of Sandwick and Hoswick. I wrote briefly about it when we arrived, and didn't expect to say any more about it (I have one more post about Shetland still half-written, but that's about something else).

Then I came across this article from the Visit Shetland website: with pictures of the visitor centre where we lunched, and of the car park that was still under construction, and the pier where we took the boat to Mousa... "We didn't find the cake fridge," grumbles D. - but we didn't actually look for it, either.

Within the week, [personal profile] durham_rambler pointed out to me that the Guardian's Country Diary piece was from Hoswick, answering the question, how do you know it's autumn if there aren't any trees to change colour?

Two postcards demand a third, so here's mine. The Visit Shetland article talks about the boatshed which serves as a display space and waiting room for the Mousa ferry. It's a pleasingly low key exhibition:

Beautiful pea-green boat

In fact, have the full set of pictures.

They're hoping to do something like this with Rae's childhood home in Orkney as you may know.
