New computer!
Mar. 22nd, 2006 09:15 pmBounce, bounce: new computer. It's the end of the financial year, and it looks as if the business can afford to buy us both new computers.
durham_rambler has spent the last several days equipping mine with all necessary software and cards and stuff, and today I get to play with it, for the first time.
It's quieter than the old one - but then, the average banshee is quieter than the old one. And I haven't yet tried to do any of the things that overtaxed the old one (like opening PaintShop Pro and AceFTP simultaneously). We've set me up to use Mozilla for my e-mail instead of Outlook Express, and haven't quite domesticated it yet it wants to keep all my different addresses compartmentalised, which is pointless and annoying:
samarcand, any idea how to stop it doing this?
Otherwise, all seems to be well. The only thing that's gone missing so far is my screensaver, which I can download again if I have to. The mouse kept sticking, so we've replaced the old one, and there's a funny little keyboard, which is living on borrowed time, but nothing irreversible.
And since, obviously, what I want to do at this stage is play around with it, we are off to London tomorrow for a long weekend. I'm looking forward to this, and plan to do all sorts of good things, but I want to stay home and play with my new toy, too!
