Sleepy solstice
Jun. 22nd, 2018 06:21 pmIt took me most of yesterday to recover from that early morning: sleeping, reading, dozing...
durham_rambler set off after lunch to return to Durham for a Parish Council meeting; I visited the priory, and the church, and I bought some more postcards (which I haven't written, but never mind, I'm sure they'll be useful...).
High point of the day was watching the little brown birds flocking to the trees in the hedgerow while D. and I dined on the last of the chicken, curried. They flew into the tree in ones and twos, until it was flecked all over with brown, then peeled off in a single murmuration - and repeat. This is the way starlings behave, but they weren't starlings; I'm pretty sure they were sparrows, which are numerous on the island.
After an early night and a late morning, I felt much brighter today.
