In among the Christmas cards, we received an invitation to a 70th birthday party, which promises, among other pleasures, a non-stop showing of Marx Brothers films to illustrate the main themes of the birthday boy's life:

A Day at the Races (chance and luck), Duck Soup (politics and war), Horse Feathers (academic life), Go West (travel by land) Monkey Business (travel by sea), Animal Crackers (the High Life), At the Circus (higher life) and A Night at the Opera (culture).

Neat, eh?

I still remember seeing A Night at the Opera in that cinema in Paris. It illustrated the problems of subtitling: "This document isn't valid unless it's got a seal on it" at which point Harpo (I think) comes on with a large aquatic mammal.
