Boiler installed, pump replaced, builders departed, house gradually warming up.

Planning appeal (student development at the County Hospital) which had been eating all [livejournal.com profile] durham_rambler's time over.

Supplies for the rest of the week purchased in a mad dash round Lidl.

Time to do some work and / or replace (some of) the things which we moved to give the builders access to the radiators.

I'm running out of excuses not to get ready for Christmas.

Oh! Is the castle green all covered in a shopping tent yet?

That was last weekend, and what with one thing and another (see under: totally unprepared) we missed it. They had problems with the high winds, and closed early on Saturday, apparently...

New userpic, for your homesick-for-Durham comments!

I saw it but wasn't prepared to pay £4 to get in - is it worth it?

I did like Durham just as a shopping change of scene, though - I was really staying in Newcastle, but too many of its shops are in the horribly overheated Eldon Square!

I didn't even look this year, because I knew I wouldn't be going, but: sometimes it's cheaper or free on the Friday (and less busy, too).

I think it's worth it, because I usually buy enough Christmas gifts and goodies to spread the price pretty thin - but it might not work that way for you.

::squees for the Cathedral all lit up like that::

J and I muse that the Lumiere event completely missed us, or we missed it. We believe that it began the year after we left. Sad, that. Maybe someday we'll have the funds to come over and see it IRL.

Pleased to hear that it has been sorted, the house is warm. Shame that the next "treat" (!) on the list is the pre-Christmas prep!
