Tell me, oh internet, who are the Chase sisters? In what book do they appear? Am I being very ignorant / stupid in not recognising them?

Background: they appeared on the Wall in Monday's Only Connect -

Background to this background: the most fiendishly difficult round of quiz programme Only Connect confronts contestants with a wall of 16 items, which can be arranged in four groups of four connected items. Some items are ambiguous, in that they could belong to more than one group, which makes it harder to resolve but isn't relevant at the moment -

On Monday one group was revealed to be Chase, Bennet, Fossil, March and the connecting factor was that they were literary sisters. I identified the Bennet sisters from Pride and Prejudice and the March sisters from Little Women, and then was delighted to spot Pauline, Petrova and Posy Fossil from Ballet Shoes, the only name host Victoria Coren Mitchell found it necessary to explain.

So, who are the Chase sisters?

I don't know. I recognize the Bennets, the Marches, and the Fossils, though, so I'm also curious!

Now I don't feel so ignorant! [livejournal.com profile] lil_shepherd has a suggestion, in another comment...

I've never heard of those books! Are they some kind of comparably breakaway hit that I have just been living under a rock for?

If so, it's a very commodious rock, and well-furnished with other books!

I didn't recognise them either and I still don't recognise them even when confronted with the author (Lauren Royal) - plainly a pseud - and the titles.

Google 'Chase Family Series' and the author's name. They appear to be bodice rippers, but the titles are all women's names.

Hmmm - seems to be more emphasis on 'family' than 'sisters', but I can't come up with a better candidate!

Every time I combine 'chase' and 'sisters' it takes me to these or something entirely irrelevant. Mind you, my Goodgle-fu is not that great...

I too was, and am, stumped. I assumed I was just being stupid!

Well, if you don't know, I feel better about not knowing!

There are also sisters called 'Chase' in Margaret Attwood's 'The Blind Assassin' but they're not exactly iconic 'sisters' in the same way the others are...

Likewise, the Chase sisters are karate stars from Pittsburgh (http://pittsburghsportkarate.com/chase-sisters/) - which is not quite what I had in mind!

Sadly, googling the question now refers you back to this post? Ho, hum.
