I love my greengrocer
Mar. 28th, 2014 01:56 pmWe went shopping in Durham in the rain, and came home with golden beetroot and purple potatoes.
Also with purple beetroot, and white-with-golden(ish)-skins potatoes, but that's less interesting.
And English asparagus - perhaps it is spring, despite the rain.

(Green, obviously).

Date: 2014-03-29 02:50 pm (UTC)I'm glad to hear that Robinson's is still there. I think that their selection and pricing was always so much better than the grocer in the market or Tesco's/M&S. I'd get my produce from Robinson's whenever possible, but as we were on Hallgarth St, sometimes it was just quicker to grab what we needed from nearer by.
Plus, they were wonderful to me when I had cravings for chestnuts; they sold me several kilo-bags in season. I think that they were amused by my entreaties.
PS - I just looked at their website. If they'd been offering free delivery when we lived there, I would have gotten watermelons...
