The seventh thing
Jan. 13th, 2011 08:50 pmI've remebered the thing I forgot to include in the last post. We stumbled into watching Rich Hall's The Dirty South on Monday, and it was the best television I've seen - well, this year, certainly. We had no expectations, which probably helped: D. was here, and we had indulged his passion for Victoria Coren by watching Only Connect, The Dirty South came up next, and by the time we'd summoned up the energy to turn it off, we'd seen enough not to want to.
It's a 90 minute programme in which Rich Hall wanders around the American South, discusses the way the South is depicted in movies (mostly by showing trailers) and breaks off every now and then for a good rant. Highly recommended, and still available on iPlayer if you have access to that.
(Google points out that it was previously shown last summer, which may explain why it turned up with so little fanfare.)
