The Guardian describes an exhibition of Bewick wood-cuts at the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, showing a collection of the little vignettes he appended to the more serious texts of his studies of birds and animals - so the man fording a river precariously on stilts formed a coda to the Long Leggged Plover.

I can't find any indication that this exhibition is to be repeated nearer to home; nor on a swift ssurvey - of the other images reproduced in the Guardian. The Bewick Society's web site has some other examples, though, of which I particularly liked this domestic scene of monkey tending the roast.

The Bewick Society has a blog - ah, result! An entry illustrated with a scene of a drunk staggering home by the light of two moons (click to enlarge) reveals that the exhibition will be at the Laing in the summer.
