An unexpected holiday
Jan. 13th, 2022 09:33 pmWe will be spending the weekend at Beamsley Hospital, a Landmark Trust property in Yorkshire.
J. fell in love with this unusual building when she first saw it in D.'s Landmark catalogue, and eventually booked the cheapest option possible, which is not really cheap at all: a weekend in mid-January. This was some time ago, and involved two couples from an entirely different friendship group. Time passed, and both couples have dropped out. J. was still determined to go ahead with her weekend, but maybe a little too emphatic about how she would have a good time all on her own... Or perhaps we were just looking for an invitation. Anyway, we offered to accompany her, and that's what we're going to do. At an even later last minute she invited D., and he too has accepted.
We leave tomorrow morning as soon as we have packed - and how long can it take to pack what we need for a weekend, Friday evening to Monday morning? The place is ours from 4.00 pm, and since that's about sunset, will try to arrive then, before it gets dark. I don't expect to have internet access.
And now I am going to bed.
