shewhomust: (watchmen)
Seaguy is a Grant Morrison story, so naturally it has a beard in it: this time, for a change, it belongs to the heroine - using the word "heroine" in the old fashioned sense of "hero's love-interest". She-Beard has vowed herself to the first hero who proves his courage to her, and Seaguy yearns to do just that, but is handicapped by the fact that everything has been done, and life offers no more excitement than a trip to the theme park in the company of his sidekick Chubby the (not very) intelligent tuna. You can try to make sense of it: how much is illusion, what would Chubby tell Seaguy if he had more than seven seconds of memory, does the moon have a secret origin...? Or you can sit back and enjoy the one-liners. A selection:

  • How could any rational man have anticipated moon-scarabs made of intelligent pewter?

  • Lucky for us some idiot thought it would be a great idea to protect the melting ice caps by coating them with Europe's dark chocolate surplus.

  • Don't rile the wasps of Atlantis!

  • Huh? You even speak Esperanto, like me?

I don't think there are any spoilers in there: after all, I haven't even mentioned XOO...
