Bumps and bangs and other disruptions
Jun. 20th, 2008 07:16 pmThe brief version:
Towards the end of our walk last Sunday I fell over (over a stone or a tree root or my own shadow, you know how it goes), cursed, picked myself up, walked on. Since when I have no bruises to show for it, but am feeling distinctly sore under my right ribs (yes, yes, "in all the diodes of my right side..."), enough so that I'm not sleeping too well. And it doesn't seem to be improving, so I went to the doctor this morning: he says keep taking the painkillers.
Yesterday we went to the Farmers' Market, and parked in the other car park, the one near the Market Place that we don't usually use. As we left,
durham_rambler remarked that "this car park is much better designed, there are far fewer vertical pillars than in the usual one...", and clipped off the passenger wing mirror on - yes - one of those fewer vertical pillars.
Luckily the (insurer's preferred) garage were able to replace it this morning, because tonight we're off to Lindisfarne to welcome Midsummer. So all is well. We're away for this weekend and next, probably coming home for a day or so in between. And there's pork and aubergine demanding my attention in the kitchen, so if you'll excuse me...
