Botanical jewellery
May. 25th, 2008 06:34 pmCourtesy of Gail-Nina: Kew Gardens have a collection of botanical jewellery. It amuses me to note that this, too, is a holiday-related post, since the conversation arose from an item displayed at Skaill House, but more to the point, look at all the pretty beads! A necklace made of coffee beans and thorns: how very me! Not to mention things that, come to think of it, I already knew could be made into Jewellery, like olive wood or bog oak. Plus links to more wonderful things, like Ruth Smith's collection, generously illustrated with such goodies as necklaces of vanilla scented tonka beans or cardamom. Wayne's Word illustrates the improbable fruits of the blue marble tree, and offers advice on preserving seed jewellery: rather than using old-fashioned poisons, freeze it periodically.
