We came home from [livejournal.com profile] desperance's surprise birthday tea on Sunday, feeling very mellow (all that good food, good company, good drink and good conversation: not to mention the endless entertainment of The Max & Barry Show) and ready for some bad television. So we watched The Search.

We had heard about this programme, because Gail-Nina had told us all about auditioning for it; and it was, as expected, a cross between Treasure Hunt and Big Brother. The teams of contestants solved clues which involved much running about and reacting to each other, and not much reflection or information.

So it was a surprise when, challenged to find the treasure hidden ruined abbey of San Galgano by determining the exact spot from which arcs painted on the walls (surely not? but that's how it looked) aligned to form a circle, one of the women tried to explain to her allies what they needed to do: "There's a sculpture in Durham called The Last Supper..."

There is indeed: or rather there was, and it's Colin Wilbourne's The Upper Room. And I wasn't expecting to encounter it in this context...
