I don't know why this amuses me so much: it is very sound advice.

I've just been making vegetable soup and there are bayleaves, but I don't intend to blitz this one.

Indeed -- mmm.

(We've been living in a plague house for the past week (the cold currently doing the rounds of elementary schools here has a long recovery) and most nights we've had either slow-cooker chicken-noodle soup or takeout Chinese noodles with a side of egg-flower. Sooooup.)

(Honestly, I rarely see myself with enough energy or bother to blend a soup, but if I did, yeah, remove the bay leaf.)

Whereas, now I think about it, most of my soups are blended: there's a kind of magic in the way disparate ingredients combine into something new...
