shewhomustFurther to yesterday's remarks about needing a diary, I almost forgot that we were booked in to a LTYLR gig with the Young'Uns - hooray for the pop-up reminder on my desktop! The band were on good form, clearly very happy to be performing live, and they had drawn a huge audience: the organisers were breathless and the start was delayed as another hundred people were admitted, and then another hundred, but eventually we were off to a rousing start, with a nod to the previous day being, among other things, Saint George's Day:
One of the things I greatly appreciate about the Young'Uns is that they mix their own - well, Sean Cooney's - compositions with a great repertoire from other songwriters. This one is by Maggie Holland. whom I don't otherwise know (and here's the original, courtesy of the invaluable 'Mainly Norfolk').
We also had some Graham Miles, of course, some Sydney Carter and quite a lot of shanties - plus an invitation to watch the Young'Uns' YTV home-made television shows, which I'm sure we will ...
