Time travel is tricky
Jun. 10th, 2011 08:25 pmI've been re-reading Good Omens (because, you know, I can...) and I came to this passage:
"No," I thought, "Tartan is cool, like bow-ties, and bunk beds... Oh, no, not yet."
Time travel is tricky, even the sort that goes in one direction, 60 minutes to the hour.
"Oh lord, heal this bike," he whispered sarcastically.
"I'm sorry, I just got carried away," hissed Aziraphale.
"Tartan straps?"
"Tartan is stylish."
"No," I thought, "Tartan is cool, like bow-ties, and bunk beds... Oh, no, not yet."
Time travel is tricky, even the sort that goes in one direction, 60 minutes to the hour.

Date: 2011-06-11 09:35 am (UTC)Like my parents used antiquated words from their youth that I used myself when moving to Germany and those who understood them found them, well: cool because they were so antiquated that they had gone all the way round to be considered in again sometime soon, though they weren´t at the time, so everyone just laughed at me. Drollig was the parental word for "funny" but nobody says that, I think. Today it is: lustig.
