Regular readers will know that I do not habitually post about today's newspaper; I prefer my news mellowed by age. But the cover of today's G2 has been taunting me. Trailing an interview with Lord Mandelson, it carries a picture of the man himself, and the statement, "I don't really see myself as a big beast. More as a kindly pussycat." So I have to ask you:

Someone else on my flist, who should remain anonymous (but won't because I'm like that: kayxh), once dreamed of Peter Mandelson in a union-jack body suit. This was probably a decade ago, but it remains my predominant image of the man politician.
