It is my birthday*, and I am spending it much as I would any other day.**

I have shopped for vegetables (i.e. I have placed an order with the greengrocer) and I am in the process of shopping for cheese (waiting for a call-back, which means also that the phone calls I might have been making are deferred). There is washing in the machine, and I am playing with some more photos of Shetland. I've just reached Sumburgh Head.

If we were not locked down - well, actually, if we were not locked down, we still couldn't have gone out for the day, because durham_rambler had a committee meeting. From which he has just emerged, and gone to make a pot of tea, And I've now paid for my cheese order, which is on its way here.

So all is well.

Interesting article with some wonderful pictures.

Something similar's been done before, with puffins. I could spend all evening looking for the story I half remember, and being distracted: Manx puffins! (I know, I know), decoys from the Audubon Society (available in a wide variety of species) or - just what we need right now! - make your own puffin facemask.
