Long time passing

The lass young woman on the till in Tesco's this morning addressed me as "flower". How long is it since I heard that?

Time was, you heard it every day. Once, in the queue in the greengrocer's in Silver Street (long gone), I heard the woman in front of me ask "Can I have a cabbage, flower?" and my mind went No, it's a cauliflower, although etymologically... oh, wait -

Now, it's unusual enough that I notice it.
