The next few chapters (which is as far as I've got) are pretty damn good too, but isn't that just a fine start?
In other news, the Third Gasman announced that the fan which was fitted by the Second Gasman two days before) had burned out, and no, he didn't have a spare. So yesterday we were visited by the Fourth Gasman - who was in fact the First Gaswoman - who fitted a new new fan. It's working so far.
We marked the arrival of spring by eating rhubarb for the first time this year (in a crumble, with a little orange zest). The rhubard crop is late, it seems, because of the mild weather.
