We continue to clear up after the party. The dining table is still in the kitchen, where it takes up too much space, and the kitchen is still in the dining room and covered with crumbs, but now not much else. Tomorrow I will hoover, and then turn the tables (as it were).

We still have a number of unidentified serving dishes: [livejournal.com profile] desperance, is the blue loaf tin yours? (But it can't be, it's blue!)

A tray of wine glasses has been returned to Tesco's in Durham, and two trays of champagne glasses will go back to the Chester-le-Street store tomorrow after we've been swimming: this minor complication having been caused by the fact that the Durham branch mis-recorded the order (two different kinds of glasses? altogether too complicated), and then had no champagne glasses available because a student called Amanda had borrowed 240 of them until the weekend (we get a different kind of student in Durham). She was, however, due to return them on Friday, so they might be back on Friday evening, and would definitely be available on Saturday morning. Except that they weren't, of course. I tried to find out this morning whether Amanda had surrendered her share of the glassware yet, but the person on duty didn't know, and couldn't find out without abandoning her post at the Customer Service desk. She wasn't surprised by this story, which she seemed to regard as par for the course.

No glasses were broken in the making of this party, although one mug was: can we really have reached an age where the rowdies at our parties are the tea-drinkers? ([livejournal.com profile] samarcand, you needn't answer that!)

There is cake with every meal; but we have reduced the stock of open bottles of wine to one.

Tonight we set the alarm clock; tomorrow morning we get up early and go swimming. That must mean we're back to normal.

Yup. Blueness is mine. Don't it make my brown bakeware blue. Etc. (It's a good loaf tin. It gives good loaf. I wasn't offered a choice of colour. What can a man do, but go blue?)

I didn't actually have a cup of tea. Although there were several occasions when I thought about it...
