Alain Sechas' Sleepwalkers

This photo by Sparkle Hayter sent me off to find out more about Alain Séchas and his sleepwalkers. Go to his web site, search for "somnambules" and see pictures which reveal that the while figure is a rather banal cartoon cat, and that Séchas's stock in trade is set his cats moving on rails in a variety of locations. The well-lit and professionally arranged photos on his site give a clear image of some of these. And they look fun, but nowhere near as dreamlike and evocative as this snapshot.

Obligatory Small World Moment:

The last time I visited England, within 24 hours of arriving in London (staying with a friend in Clapham Junction) I found my way to a mystery-specialised bookstore, specifically to meet Sparkle Hayter, who was good friends with an online buddy of mine in Los Angeles.

She was tickled by this. I bought her book (and loved it) and somewhere have a photo taken of the two of us at the signing.

... and this would be me, rolling eyes at self for leaving comments before checking to see if I'm logged in.

D'oh!

Heh. I only know Sparkle though Flickr, though I was talking about her at Val and Kelly's wedding with fellow tarts Lauren and Stella (http://www.tartcity.com/intro.html).

So that makes us (you and me) almost acquainted, then.
