Dawn in three acts

Behind St Godric's church, the thinnest wash of sky blue is almost hidden by wispy clouds, like a stack of grey and pink veils.

Down by the river, the colours are separating: grey behind the cathedral, while a rose blossoms above the knife blade of the leisure centre's electric lighting.

Beyond the deep end of the pool, the glass wall is filled with a mottled purple grey bruise, fading while I swim to the bleak off white of a winter morning.

Back by the river, the resident heron is unimpressed.

Good morning!

St Godric's church? You mean the one near the rail station? I'd been by it a thousand times of course, but had never gone in.

What a cool image you've made, though. Thanks for posting this.

That's the one; and I've never been inside, either. But it makes such a good silhouette above the ring road...

And, you're welcome!

The heron is Statler and/or Waldorf.

(Not being any of them, I think it sounds lovely.)

At last LJ will allow me to thank you for both parts of this comment!
