Positively

On Monday morning I woke with a sore throat. Should we do Covid tests, I asked [personal profile] durham_rambler; after all, we were expecting guests to lunch. No, he said, it'll probably clear up over breakfast. And it did, so I forgot about it. In hindsight, this may not have been the best idea...

On Tuesday morning, [personal profile] durham_rambler woke with a sore throat and the symptoms of a head cold. So we both did Covid tests. Mine was negative, his was positive, but quite half-hearted: a very faint second line. He used an app on his phone to get a second opinion, which came back negative: "Ha," he said, "I knew my camera lens wasn't functioning properly!" As [personal profile] boybear says, sometimes you have to toss a coin to find out which way you want it to fall...

We have spent the week isolating ourselves - together, there didn't seem any point in trying to isolate ourselves separately. As the week went on, [personal profile] durham_rambler has gradually been feeling better, I have gradually been feeling worse. Yesterday morning we did another test. [personal profile] durham_rambler had a very clear positive result, I am still testing negative. We did not go to the Miners' Gala.

I am doing my best to take it easy, working at my desk in the morning, but spending the afternoons half asleep on the sofa, with a volume of Rose Macaulay.

The tl:dr; version: we both have nasty snuffly head-coldy symptoms. [personal profile] durham_rambler is feeling a bit better, but is testing positive for Covid; I am feeling a bit worse, but am testing negative.

Hope you both get over whatever it is soonest!
