The Guardian's James Meek reports from the Eurasian Media Forum in Almaty, which found time on its agenda to debate Sacha Baron Cohen's routine, which consists in passing himself off as a Kazakh journalist called Borat. I was particularly impressed with Vladimir Legoida, chief editor of a magazine called Foma, who announced that he thought Borat was in bad taste.

This is probably not the week's most important news story from Kazakhstan: blame me for the randomness of my reading of the Guardian - though you can blame the Guardian for selecting this single item from the Forum.
