Well, this is odd. Evidently I read your not-really post, since I replied claiming to have adored The Little White Horse as a child, which is no longer how I remember the case; if I ever read rushthatspeaks's post (and I am totally a fan of their book posts, so it seems likely) there is no trace of that. So thanks for both pointers. I'm also intrigued that the comments on Rush's post are full of people adoring oe of Goudge's books and bouncing off others - clearly the borderline tweeness treads a very fine line, and our mileage varies like never so.
